9 April 2005 (yesterday) (tomorrow)
I got in a cab and went to LaGuardia around 5 a.m. The airport was relatively empty; I napped on the plane and showed up in Chicago bleary-eyed.
Even though I hadn't spoken to him in two weeks, Cameron was expecting me. We had coffee at Cold Comfort, then went shopping at Reckless and City Soles. Then I took a nap on his futon.
When I woke, I got ready to go out with Melinda. Unfortunately, I mistakenly assumed that Thorne Auditorium was at Northwestern University, when in fact it is at Northwestern University Law School. So, instead of seeing her old pal Mark Wexler, Melinda in fact ended up eating spicy shrimp with me at the Davis St. fishmarket. We then drove downtown, where we checked out her huge duplex and then met up with Cameron and some Pac Edge people at Jack's (not the gay bar, the other one).
After Melinda left (she was tired), Cameron and Peter and Brianne and Irene and I drank around a round wooden table for a good long time. A bald, slow-talking man ambled over to us from the bar and bought us a round of drinks. We started talking loudly about subjects like Iowa and anal sex. We closed the place down. Cam and I took a cab home, buying cigarettes and wine along the way. We ended up arguing loudly in French in his stairway, much to his roommate's chagrin.
