10 May 2005 (yesterday) (tomorrow)
I sat at Hope & Anchor and listened to the red-faced men make crude small talk as I gulped Hennepin. The girl next to me had the shrill generic voice of someone who considers themself pretty. I spilled some beer on the counter and stared at it glumly. The Mexican bartender wiped it up with a towel... For some reason, this little gesture made me momentarily happy.
Then, I gradually realized that the men next to were grips, sharing jokes about the New York film production scene. When I ordered a shot of Maker's Mark, the woman sitting next to me struck up a conversation with me about being pregnant and craving margaritas.
I walked for a long time in the sunshine without noticing how far I had walked.
When I got to work, Dave informed me that he was not going to be replaced by a Stephanie, but probably by an editor that Sanford knows.
