31 May 2005 (yesterday) (tomorrow).
I walked in and met a girl named Happy, who proceeded to ply me with her own version of a mojito which seemed to involve a lot of watermelon juice. We met each other's eyes in the same peculiar way that I had met Gwinny's last year.
Alexa, a gangly young redhead with braces, tried to flip my cheesecake into my lap. I got the impression that she was Happy's girlfriend, especially when she flung her arms out drunkenly in the kitchen and announced "This is Happy-- she's my girlfriend. Isn't she great?"
I asked Happy whether she would like to take a walk among the houseboats and there was a general commotion. Happy invited Alexa along, and then Alexa and Happy disappeared for a while into the bathroom. When they returned I politely played down my request.
Steiner and I had breakfast with Happy at a place by the waterfront. It was nice, but I was a little confused about the whole situation with her and our conversation stumbled. We made plans for the three of us to see each other in New York, though.
I travelled by plane for the rest of the day; I begged off work which was just as well since I had a hell of a time getting home from JFK using public transportation.
